Welcome Scouters

Rotary Camp Staff Request

Attention Scouts and Venturers:
Want to Staff at a Boy Scout Camp, but can't commit to camp staff for an entire summer?
Rotary camp is your solution. Rotary camp is a boy scout camp in the Heart of America Council for scouts with disabilities. We are looking for staff at least 14 years of age to join us at camp. July 31st- August 7th 2009 are the dates of camp. The first weekend of camp will have an extensive staff training to prepare staff for the week. Rotary camp is the chance of a life-time to be a valuable part of providing a long-term camping experience for scouts that otherwise would not be able to attend camp. Find your staff application online at hoac-bsa.org!

Yours in Scouting, Richard Weerts, rweerts@ksu.edu, Rotary Camp Advisor

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) also known as Brownsea 22. This is the "Woodbadge for Scouts" - the premier leadership course for helping develop your troop's current and future Senior Patrol Leaders.

Brownsea is an intensive, six-day outdoor training experience for young men in support of the Scoutmaster’s responsibility for the training of troop junior leaders. It is conducted by the Heart of America Council Training Committee, using the outline approved by the Boy Scout Division of the BSA.

The Boy Scouts of America has established the following qualifications by the beginning of the course (June 14, 2009): Be 13 years of age or have completed the seventh grade and Be a First Class Scout

This year NYLT will be held at the Theodore Naish Scout Reservation from Sunday, June 14 to Friday, June 19, 2009. The purpose of NYLT Training is to give participants the confidence and knowledge to run the troop program; to give participants a basic knowledge of the eleven skills of leadership and help them relate these skills to their troop responsibilities; to create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at it’s best; to enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster and of course, to have fun!! More information, registration forms and online registration are available on the Heart of America Council website at these web pages:
