Religious Emblem Awards
Obtaining Religious Medals and
Religious Knots.
The religious organization that each youth is affiliated with shall be
responsible for awarding medals and certificates according to religious
sect. This is usually done on Scout Sunday (The first Sunday in February).
The unit that each youth is responsible is affiliated
with shall be responsible for awarding the religious knot and a device
for each of the following: Cub, Webelo, and Boy or Youth Program completed.
Knots and devices (worn on knot) can be obtained from the Heart of America
Scout Shop.

Obtaining Religious Coups
Order of the Arrow - If a youth
or an adult has received the religious reward, he or she can purchase
the OA Religious Coup at the Camp Naish Trading Post.
Tribe of Mic-O-Say – If
a youth or an adult has received the religious reward, notify the Unit
Scoutmaster and he or she shall be responsible to turn the request into
the Tribe of Mic-O-Say during the next camp session. The coup will be
awarded after a youth or an adult has been awarded Warrior or Honored
Warrior during the closing campfire.

It is a Christian education series that
- Includes Bible lessons and service projects
- Involves adult counselors, families, Christian mentors
- Provides recognition items that may be worn on the official
BSA uniform

Why promote God and Country?
- To help Scouts learn to be reverent to God
- To serve as an outreach program into the community
- To help young people internalize the values they learn in Scouting
and relate them to their faith

How do you set up a God and Country class?
- Obtain the curriculum booklets and talk to your pastor
- Use the Counselor Manual to decide a class schedule
- Reserve dates and recruit teachers
- Recognize the recipients in a worship service (Scout Sunday
is a perfect time to recognize recipients!)
